This will replace Google Maps with version 3.0. Its great that it's optional because I'm not feeling 100% secure about who will have access to my location lol.

Is there an option to make yourself hidden (so people don't know where you are at)?

Google has done it again. This app is scary and cool at the same time. If you don't turn it off, people can keep tabs on you and where you are. But its nice when it comes to hooking up with friends at a location. I love it.

Could be fun. or dangerous depending on how it's used.......I may try it out but will be very selective about who can see that info!

This could be neat, but it is potentially kind of scary. Is there an option to turn it off completely in the new Maps app? Normally, when I want to see friends (or they want to see me), we'll actually plan to be somewhere that we know about.

According to Hayden's post, this is an optional feature.

honestly its about time that an app like this is made. somethig that takes full advantage of our gps. If youre uncomfortable about it you can just not share your location. Also you and a friend have to agree with location sharing, if im correct.

I applaud google for updating this app as often as they do, but WTF is up with GPS on the storm with google maps? I was hoping this update would address that issue.... Guess I keep waiting an using Garmin (which rocks btw). Don't get me wrong, I realize that this is as much, if not more Verizon's fault as it is googles...

You have to have a Google account to log into Latitudes. Once you've done that, you can add other friends with google accounts. And of course, you can sent your location if you want to. Or just go invisible.

I just log out, to make sure.

Yes, the demo shows an example of being hidden, even to people you accept as friends, you can make yourself "hidden" at any time.
