From what I'm gathering from all the posts in here (and its just my opinion), ... Smartphone News forum
From what I'm gathering from all the posts in here (and its just my opinion), it sounds like 2.2.1 is only for the Pearl for voice search, it sounds like 2.2.2 is the version that allows voice search on other models.
Again, not 100% sure, but that's what it sounds like reading through this thread
It's not an iPhone addiction, it's insomnia!
OTA link doesn't work. I get "Not Found - The requested URL /gmm/apps/v2.2....=en&noss=1 was not found on this server."
I got the 2.2.2 version on my 8310, but the voice controls aren't working... And yes, I think the one way arrows on streets are new!
8300, everytime I try the voice search I get the message "google maps can't connect"
I'm also getting "google maps can't connect" on my 8300 when I try the voice search yet it is in beta mode maybe we just have to wait for another update
voice searching only works on the 8110, 8120 & 8130 in the US
It seems to have broken my Opera and has been taking longer to search than usual.
Adds Voice search functionality
Menus look the same as 2.2.0 with the annoying transit route coming up as default directions search.

Any idea why 2.2.2 will not work on 8100
(22.214.171.124 on Optus Australia)
(not getting voice option)

So what exactly is the does the update do? ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
Some speculation to the fact that the older version was a type of un-announced beta.
~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ just installed and ran on my 8320. When asked to upgrade it asked to upgrade to 2.2.2. Works fine for me
Still produces VERY inconsistent results with the voice search on my 8310 w/ OS 4.5/
Working well so far on my Bell 8330.
Google Maps Voice Search Working on VZW 8830!
For anyone that still cannot get voice search to work on their 8830 (or other device), try this:
I read about the "Reset Google Maps" on the Google Maps Mobile forum, and this is apparently the missing link!
- Install the latest version of Google Maps (http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v2.2....noss=1&eosr=on);
- Launch Google Maps 2.2.2; and
- Reset Google Maps (under the Help menu within the app).

I have an issue where if I'm listening to any media and launch Google Maps it reboots.
