Someone needs to give them a kick in the rear and tell them to move their butts. Apple has got the drop on them yet again and released their second ipone model, samsung has released their model, LG, nokia has dished theirs out. Like always last but not even least it RIM. They move like dam snails and it's pissing me off......

I think planneau has a good point here! Why are they so slow? The Bold, for example, is obviously ready, why are they holding back and letting others get all of the publicity? My personal opinion is this; I think RIM knows how to work in the corporate market just fine. But I am not sure they really understand the consumer part of the equation. Corporate/enterprise folks move slowly in these areas, but the consumer tech market is a rather fast pace. RIM might be able to make a good product but they sorely need some marketing help. Say what you want about Apple but they are absolutely masters at marketing.

I have to say I too wish BB would be a little faster with the releasing of not only the line up of new phones but the new OS, however in BB's defense as mentioned in a previous post they (BB) are use to the corp world of communication and providing business' where what counts is that phone works and works well, doesn't break down only after a few short hrs of use and so far BB has done this with which new phone or OS BB has place in the market. Let get real here many people are going to BB now for a everyday multi media device but a BB isn't a iphone or one of the many other ones out there (and thank the lord its not) it is a device that was made for the corporate bussn industry. I run a bussn and there no way I would go to a different device tried once and within one week I was back. So I am willing to be patient because when I get a NEW BB I know it will work.

You complain that RIM is slow releasing devices, have you considered that RIM may nothing to do with it at all? Carriers buy bulk lots of devices and release new devices only when they determine that either they made enough money off the last lot or the device sales dropped off so much that it has forced them to introduce the new devices.

This is a very common business practice in many markets, it has nothing to do with the manufacturer and is more noticeable when you have a very limited amount of distributors. A very strong case-in-point for this is not device related, it is service related: The Canadian wireless data network services, the technology we know exists but until the government tells the carriers to stop being greedy or market sales drop so low, we will continue to pay $12-60/MB.

It has all to do with the carriers. I have spoken to people at tmobile. They said they won't release the new phones of any kind untill they sell a lot of the old stock. The steps are to sell the phone at the highest price they can first. Once those sales dip they they lower the phone to a lower price. Sometime they do two price drops till they reach like 99 dollars then months later they announce the new phones. I heard from a person at tmobile is they in the 4th quarter is when they are going to release the next two blackberries.
