you click on the station and it opens up and loads to media player...

only thing is that you have to leave your media player up...checking emails or navigating away from media player stops the stream...anyone find a way to have this play in the background while doing other blackberry things?

It's not so much RIM failing to support streaming audio, it's content providers. In order to effectively stream audio without packet loss over standard cellular frequencies you must use a very low bitrate, in the neighborhood of 12-32kbps. Most content providers simply fail to put audio this low, and usually offer starting at 64-128kbps.

All these websites are doing is acting as a proxy and downsampling the original audio streams to a format more suitable for your phone, which makes the service highly unreliable as you have to put faith in their ability to handle 10,000 user requests at once, something I think Moodio is completely failing at.

Nobody ever said it was RIM's fault. And why is Moodio completely failing? You sound pretty harsh on a service that's completely free and fairly new.

The OS shouldn't matter when getting to the website. It's when you click on the station to try to listen that doesn't work with 4.2.
Thanks that got me to the mobile site but shucks I'm wondering if its worth upgrading to 4.5 now

I found this great mobile site for streaming radio urls called Tuned.mobi: http://tuned.mobi/. I was able to find my local radio stations to add to Moodio all via my BlackBerry. To get the url of your desired radio station, instead of clicking on the stream, copy the link address. Enter the url into Moodio--it will tell you if it is valid or not.

I've noticed that stations that worked prior are throwing an 'error playing media' message. Hope it is a temporary thing, perhaps influenced by a loss of signal. At least some channels still work.

Lucky13mt: Seems to only work with 4.5, unfortunately.
