The address input and recalling prior inputted addresses are the worse ever to deal with but everything else makes up for that 100 times over.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Re: MapQuest for BlackBerry, Turn-by-Turn Navigation for $4.99

On my 8320 every time I run this app it asks me to verify security. I save the settings and then it takes 2-3 minutes and the app starts. This is a PIA. I have not emailed support yet haven't had time. Anyone else experiencing this? Other than that I like it a lot. Some Telenav features are better some Mapquest features are better:

    Telenav +
+ Can enter and manage addresses online
+ Can delete a saved place
+ Can jump to saved place by typing first letter while in list (H) for Home
    + Louder
    - No official support for T-Mobile 8320

    Mapquest
    - Can't delete a saved place
    + Traffic optimization seems better
+ spoken directions are better this says things like at the end of the road turn left instead of turn left
+ Cheaper - at least for now
    - PIA security for now till I get a fix
    + Officially supported on T-Mobile 8320
    - Since you don't get a webpage to manage your favorites I am not sure what happens if you get a new phone or hard reset. Do you lose your saved favorites?
    - Significantly slower at recalculating route after deviation
+ at least points you in the right direction if you deviate and there is no cell service (has happened to me in CA desert driving from Vegas to Valencia)

I have the old version of MapQuest and hopefully this will still be supported. I found MapQuest to be the best free GPS program, but I guess all good things must come to an end.

    Frisco49ers,
Nice screen name btw! Why don't you hack the vendor codes? I have AT&T & hacked my BB to get BBMaps to work. I'm sure the same can be done for Rogers.

Does mapquest go through the APN? Or the normal blackberry connection. I have to pay through the nose for APN but have unlimited through the blackberry connection. Thanks

Not sure if this would help anyone or how to get it out there for people to download but i have the .jad file for the free version of mapquest navigator on my laptop. So if someone wants it shoot me an email and i can attach the file. Then from there i guess would just use javaloader to put in on the BB itself. I am a us cellular customer with an 8830 and the app works just fine.

Just to give my .02 here, my husband and I have been devoted Telenav users for close to three years. As we are always on a lookout for good bargains (especially when it is cellular-related), we experimented with MapQuest Navigator last night.

Bottom line: We are now MapQuest advocates These type of applications are a necessity for us as we get lost often... The significant plus of this piece of software was the clear audio and the split-second speed it took to locate and re-locate us. Telenav, from our experience, seems to have a major delay in those areas.
