Re: iSkoot - freeware that lets you use your Skype plan on BlackBerry.

I can't get the program to download on my 8800. It starts the download, then I get an error stating:

    907 Invalid COD
    Unable to import ZIP file

It appears that the only way to download the file is via the BlackBerry. The option for downloading the file to the computer is grayed out.

I tried this, and Nimbuzz, and I found IM+ Skype to be light-years beyond them, however it is not free.

Re: iSkoot - freeware that lets you use your Skype plan on BlackBerry.

[EDIT: back at the desk and went to iSkoot's website and found an answer to my questions...]
    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

This looks like a great application. Two questions:

    1) Can I set it up so that my SkypeIn number will ring (assuming the app is active on my handset)? [Edit: according to the iSkoot FAQ http://www.iskoot.com/products_faq.php#9 a user cannot receive calls if Skype Voicemail is active]

    2) How is the call quality over regular cell network (I do not have WiFi on this Curve)? [Edit: FAQ cleared up for me that calls would utilize the cellular network so I'm going to assume comparable quality.]

I migrated from Windows Mobile a few weeks ago and utilized Fring. Have been wanting an application for BB use!

    Thanks,
    PDX

Does chat use data or sms?

NEVERMIND! found this on the site...

Using Skype Text Chat: A little bit of Data + Some SMS MessagesWhen you use Skype text chat on your mobile phone, the service uses your data connection to exchange messages with your chat buddies. In order to notify you immediately when a new chat message is received, iSkoot may send the software on your phone a special SMS message telling it to retrieve the newest message from the server. (Any special chat-related SMS messages won't clog up your Inbox, either!)

I feel like I am going to load this onto my 8703 and it will chew up a ton of MB and charge me like 100 sms/mo. Am I right? I spent months researching putting skype on a BB and/or smart phone and never came up with this. Any legitimate reviews, not just a comment or two?

I've tried to use iSkoot but failed to make is work. Receiving the same reply as BBSlinger "907 Invalid cod Unable to import ZIP file". In other way I too think that nimbuzz is easy to use... I wish to see how iSkoot works! If anyone know how to get rid of 907 invalid cod please do let me know.
