"iPhone & BlackBerry are two very different tools," RIM Co-CEO Lazaridis

Lazaridis talks about the iPhone like a car enthusiast who drives a Bentley might talk about a shiny, new Ford Mustang: Nice, but just not for him--or, in this case, his customers, either.

"The iPhone and BlackBerry are two very different tools," Lazaridis says. He calls Apple's device a "multimedia machine" and the BlackBerry a business tool for "power users."

Will Blackberry ever abandon the physical QWERTY keyboard? Even if touchscreen technology finds it's way into future device releases? I'm still holding out on my original touchscreen expectations.

The touchscreen would be neat but not for typing. I just cant type on the iphone/touch. I like to be able to feel the keys. Maybe if there was a skin you could apply to it then yeah.

    Def agree!

I've recently had the opportunity to experience an Iphone first hand.

Let me tell you it's an amazing device, but so not worth giving up my blackberry. Texting was nearly impossible and email on the Iphone does not even COME CLOSE to a blackberrys email service.

And Iphone is for the looks and "oh wow, thats cool."

The BB is for the professional

I have to agree, eventhough I've had the "oh wow, that's cool" from showing people my BB as well. When I show them all the apps (for free mind you) for maps, directions, rss feeds, opera mini, weather, stocks and more, people are like "I thought a blackberry was only for email" and they are very impressed.

That's how I feel about these two devices from the very beginning too.

My friend had a iphone, and yeah, it does have that wow factor. But after awhile, he got annoyed with the touch screen. Guess what he has now, a BB curve!! ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
