Computerworld.com: A hacking contest slated for next month will award cash prizes of $10,000 to anyone who can break into the most popular smartphones, including Apple Inc.'s iPhone and Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry.

The Pwn2Own contest, which will kick off March 18 at the CanSecWest security conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, will offer a dual-track hacking challenge for the first time, said Terri Forslof, security response manager at 3Com Inc.'s TippingPoint unit, the contest sponsor.

Nice. This is a good way of testing the security vulnerabilities of certain devices. Money incites effort.

Wow..sounds fun... I remember at the end of my CEH class and after taking the Certifcation tests the instructor had some fun with us...he has us attempt to hack his home network....the person to hack it would get a 500gb hard drive with over 200gb of hacking tools installed on it....no one hacked his network..but he ended up giving us copies of the drive anyways....very cool stuff...the best thing of all is my job paid for the class and certification so I can test our network for vulnerabilities.

Makes perfect sense! Get some of the better hackers out there for a shot at the company and might get paid! It would show them different vulnerabilities and where to spend their securities money, also they would never openly announce a job persé because then they may get ppl that could more than likely win just to get on the inside! I think it is a very good idea!
Good luck to any stackers that make a go for it!
