I think its bogus that Google ripped out there application updater app that would notify you of a new available update and now I have to put my ear to the internet to see if an upgrade is available.

Thanks, I was already on 2.0.5 though. Kind of strange to announce version 2.0 now since it's been out for quite a while now.

Can I ask a stupid question?

Does this replace having your gmail setup in BIS?

Is one better than the other?

What's the big advantage of a Gmail application over simply having my Gmail pushed to the phone?

-Emails are not 'pushed' and may take 15-20 minutes to receive new emails (gmail app probably only updates every 15-20 minutes)

-No notification icon on the top bar (like the voicemail icons, text messages, etc)

-Speed is greatly improved, compared to prior versions

-Images don't load up in emails? (Even if it's not full HTML support, it's better than the unicode format in BIS)

I do like that it syncs between gmail.com and the gmail app though.

The Large Fonts option is back. I think I was the only one that missed the large fonts.

I just use gmail app to get to to my contacts. Other then that it's push straight to my BB.

Not a stupid question, No it does not replace the gmail setup in BIS. You can have both. I think it's all in preference which you prefer to use. You receive your mail faster when push to your BB - my experience.
