The Dilithium Content Adapter is the ideal solution for services which are required to offer content in a wide range of formats to a variety of different devices and networks.
Media adaptation and conversion is carried out in real-time with minimal latency, avoiding the need to perform off-line transcoding, with resultant media objects being cached as required to give maximum performance and throughput.
The DCA supports client access from a wide range of sources including HTTP and RTSP servers, and adapts between a diverse range of file formats and codec types before delivering the content using the protocol best suited to the clients’ device and network.
Requests from clients are processed by customer defined application scripts which give complete control over the content and format to be delivered. Customer sessions may comprise of a series of different items from different sources using application defined playlists, and easy integration with content management and charging systems is made possible through the use of standard PHP scripting.
