instead of being critical of the software developers or how this site decided to release the app to it's users, why not try and help those of us that are having connection troubles?

agreed, but i'm guessing some code could be cleaned up to improve this a little though. too much lag time to just be the processor.

I was able to finish the set-up process when I switched my 8320 over to Wi-Fi.
But, when I am not on Wi-Fi, I get the timeout error again.

    Tmo is my carrier.

Just noticed that "via vlingo" is included in text messages and emails that are sent using this application. Not sure if I am that crazy about that. Wonder if there is a way around that.

If you go into Menu>Options you can turn off the "tag lines" for this there.

Being a beta release, there are indeed some issues. But overall, it's a pretty darn amazing idea.

It's fine to offer criticism. In fact, I really believe it will help make it a better app overall. However, I really don't feel that coming on this forum and speaking ill of Hayden accomplishes anything.

As others have said, either don't use it if it doesn't work for you, or offer constructive feedback to the developers. There is an option to send feedback directly through the program.
    As always, just my opinion...

I am getting the same problems on step 4 of setup. I have a Rogers Curve (8300) on BIS. When I go through prompt to ``Web Search Concert tickets" I get the arrows showing network traffic, but after a minute it comes back with "Request Timeout".

I have done all the suggestions Vlingo suggests --- checking APN, changing firewall and permissions, battery pull -- without any luck. All my other blackberry web functions work.

    I am using OS 4.2.2.89

To all who get Network Timeout errors

Make sure you report it with all the necessary info about your BB and carrier through the Menu>Options>Feedback form.

The more people report it (a detailed report would help Vlingo a lot) the better they can address the issue.

Brought to us by the folks over at Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

(backers of Vlingo to the tune of $26 million)

I love love love love love love love free BB apps no matter what they are.

To the people that don't feel this is a great app, you are mistaken. Take some time and learn how to use it before you bash it. You'll be surprised how cool this application is!
