Because of the shitty plans Rogers Wireless released for the iPhone thats due to launch Friday morning,

“thousands” of Canadian part-time workers hired by Rogers have lost their jobs and untold numbers of iPhone 3Gs earmarked for Canada have been diverted to Apple’s European partners.

But can we say the same thing to ourself too? ATT also lowers the price of Curve to attract more new bb users to sign up for service, so do other carriers.

To the end, we are just another group of people paying huge amount of money for our own addictions. The only difference is that we and iphone fans are getting different type of addictions.

On the other hand, since the inflation effects kicks in, the money worths a year ago is actually more than what is worth now. So the total cost difference in reality is minimal. Plus you do get faster 3g speed, GPS, and other goodies. I know I know, iphone 3g lacks of something important, but it does a good job where it excels.

I don't see the big deals here as everyone has his own preferences and "addictions"

What's funny is you guys are just hating on the iPhone. Its ridiculous. Its business and soon enough RIM is gonna do the same thing. Fleecing of America people. Everything is going up get used to it. Apple made a phone completely opposite of everything that was out at the time and now every phone maker is trying to ride that wave.Yes people even RIM. Apple also had the balls to go up against a service provider for trying to pull b.s. moves that ALL service providers try. Give them some credit. If RIM pushed for more cost in the service You guys would pay it no questions asked. Another thing I've owned BBs for that past four years and I love them like the rest of you guys but right now these new devices they have been making are not up to par and you know it. I've had 5 curves, 5 8820s in the past seven months because of manufacter defects os problems. I will admit the BBs are more stable than the rest but they are rushing putting out devices rushing out os and they still are not up to par. When were we supposed to have 4.5 again? All phones are not perfect all are missing something we all would love to have in the package but that's what keeps us buying. If they put everything in one device you would stop buying. Don't look at people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol or anything else because u have an addiction as well. Admit it to yourself. Apple took one phone and are changing the whole cell phone game. You should be congratulating because they forcing RIM to step their game up. Not a fanboy for either one. Its all about preference. You like BBs or you like iPhones. Stop having these crap assed debates over stuff that's trivial. I've learned a lot from this forum and I appreciate it but damn. You guys are always talking about iPhones deep down you know you want one just get one and stop bitching. One phone has you guys shook up. I know iPhones have ruffled a lot of feathers. Blackberries have down that as well. Now Apples turn.

The only thing I'm "bitching" about is the fact carriers like Rogers Wireless in Canada, continue to TRY and take advantage of their clients, while making it so obvious by releasing ridiculous price plans and expecting everybody to jump on the wagon.

It really is sad, but unfortunately most people are unaware of this and we post in these forums to express our feelings and opinions to allow others to be well informed before jumping on a 3-year or even 2-year commitment.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~yeah some carriers have outrageous price for data and for rate plans. While some other carriers you may pay alittle more for the phone but your plans are great.

Well in our case, here in Canada, you can only get the devices on a 36-month agreement, with the specific plans they have available, at the same pricing as everywhere else in the world if not more! (existing clients might have the advantage of buying the hardware and keeping their same plan)

I'm sorry you guys in Canada have those crazy rate plans. Just wish that more cellphone makers have the courage to stand up to the providers. RIM Nokia HTC Palm all of them should stand up. Not just Apple. We even pay for the paper the bills are printed on. We don't realize how much power we have as a consumer. Apple says we want everyone to be able to have our product. We will sell it somewhere else if we have to just to make a point.

Yeah, really smart AT&T! The ONLY reason I have AT&T service is because I work for UPS and I carry a large discount with them. If I didn't have a discount, I probably would have Cricket service.

Now that I look at the info again, aren't you getting a LOT more data with the iphone? I only get 5MB a month for $25 here in Canada with Sasktel...maybe its just our messed up rates making the data look like a good deal.

Well on a Blackberry 5MB goes a very long way, due to RIM's ingenius compression methods.
On an iPhone, to get the same experience you need at least 100x more data!

and you are correct, thats exactly what it is! These providers know they are screwing us royally, and by releasing something that includes a bit of everything they think they'll get away with it, because hell its the iPhone!
