I've had this happen, both with the BB and with other phones. Don't blame the BlackBerry (exclusively, anyway)!

Good to know I am not alone. I felt this prior to my BB. I use to carry a Samsung A900 on my hip prior to geting my BB and now it sits in my pocket at the same time I carry my BB on my hip.

It's nice to know I am not the only one who has had this happen. I too thought it was just signs that I was an addict!!

I'd noticed the phantom vibration back when I had a Nokia 6130i. When I'd upgraded that to the bb7130g that I have now I initially noticed that the phantom went away, the vibe modes were different. Now that I've had my berry for over a year that phantom is back.

I've been experiencing phantom vibes ever since I started wearing a pager in the early 90s. I keep my Pearl in my pocket. I think sometimes it vibrates just to mess with my mind.

Just another theory, which is supported by various medical research: There is an association between phantom vibrations and the initiation, ongoing use or cessation of benzodiazipines (Valium, Lorazepam, anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medications). So, phantom vibrations may or may not actually have a causal connection with your BB; it could be coincidental and related to other factors in your life.

Let me ask any and all of you that have this phantom vibration issue, when you lay down to go to sleep does either of your legs feel restless? Or have the muscles in your thigh "twitch" this phanthom vibration could be a sub issue of restless leg syndrom. I dunno, just a thought.

Good to know that I'm not alone with this problem; although my Chiropractor felt that these "Phantom Vibrations" I've been describing to him (over the past year) is very similar to RLS (restless leg syndrome), but rather than having the urge to move my legs without control, I was having the urge to check my bb for msg's & calls without control. I'm truly convinced that we all have a severe case of RBBS (restless BB syndrome)! Thanks for the article Hayden.

And now that you have posted that some "yahoo" who is looking for a quoick million will sue someone for this "RBBS" in a frivilous law suit. I give this case one year to "pop up" in the news radar on a slow wensday broadcast when nothing else interesting is going on! And after that you'll see all these lawyer comericals stating that if you own a black berry "if you have suffered from RBBS we can secure you compensastion." I am in no way saying that I will personally do this but see how "sue happy" everyone is these days I can almost asure you that this will be prominete in society in the near future.
