Casinos warned about card-counting iPhone app

Blackjack card-counting: "There's an App for that!"

AS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling regulators have warned casinos in the state about a card-counting program that works on Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPod Touch that illegally helps players beat the house in blackjack. Card counting itself is not illegal under Nevada gambling laws, but it is considered a felony to use devices to help count cards.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board sent a memo to casinos last week warning them of the program.

In blackjack, certain card counting techniques help players determine when they are likely to win a hand and adjust their bets accordingly.

Nevada learned of the program from gambling regulators in California, where officials at an Indian casino found customers using it and tipped state authorities.

Good heavens! A program that enables one to win instead of lose? That simply can't be tolerated. Where would they get the mountain of dough to build more Taj Mahal's to lose your money in

I wonder if their phones were confiscated and if any of those people will be added to the casino's black book and/or 86'd?

Not very smart to try and cheat while at the tables.

I'm not smart enough to figure that out, plus I'm way too chicken!

I know people laugh when they hear casinos balking at losing their money in schemes like that, but there are thousands of employees who can work at one hotel/casino alone and they depend on gamblers to lose the shirts off of their backs (I used to be one of them). Plus, why should honest hard working losers be cheated by dishonest losers?

Not for answering a call, but you might get questioned if you were taking pictures or video on the gaming floor. But in Race and Sports book, forget about your phone.

    Hahahaha....

This is funny; what else apple has a app for. Maybe they have one for how to cheat on your girlfriend or wife. A app on how to get out of a speeding ticket.......Funny.

I heard about this on CNN last night. I would hate for a Pit Boss to walk up and see me beating the odds with an app on my device. At least corporations own the casinos now instead of the Mob

You can card count (without the aid of a device), but keep doing it too successfully and you'll draw the attention of the control room and pit boss.
