Internal investigators had trouble accessing the hard-drive of Anthony Gutierrez' state-issued Blackberry and some information might have been lost.

"They believe nothing or almost nothing was lost," said Ted Hart, spokesman for Attorney General Marc Dann.

Hart said Executive Assistant Attorney General Ben Espy, who is conducting an internal investigation into allegations that Gutierrez sexually harassed two junior staff members, asked the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to examine the Blackberry.

Thats some article, but I still don't understand why some folks still don't believe that "Everything Digital" leaves a Signature/Trace. Especially something that "Keeps Logs for example for 30 days by default"

If he's guilty, I hope he gets what is coming to him. And I hope that blackberry finds a new owner. Would be a waste..

The investigators have had trouble accessing the hard drive on his blackberry?
Where did they find a hard drive on the thing?

Seriously though if the protection systems on the device are enabled, they should have trouble access what information is stored on it.

Don't these people ever watch csi or shows like that? Almost anything on a drive is traceable. What a shame. BTW, 87K for running a mail room, maintenance, and purchasing? WTF?!?!?

Welcome to Corporate Middle Management in the US. $75k-$95k of overhead expense (just on base salary, add another 30-40% for benefits, etc) that no one can really explain what the purpose of the position is for.

I can name 5 positions just like it in my company, same salary tier. Same knucklehead empty suit in the position, too, apparently. The Peter Principle alive and well!

Thumbs up They should have used Retain for BES

If logging was turned on, all messages are retrievable (assuming the device didn't run out of memory).
They could have the info they need if they used a product from GWAVA called Retain for BlackBerry www.gwava.com/blackberry

    Device was wiped. from http://www.10tv.com/live/content/loc...z.html?sid=102

The women believe Gutierrez left a trail of evidence on his state-issued BlackBerry, but investigators Thursday locked themselves out of the device's hard drive, 10TV learned. It was uncertain Thursday night whether any of the information on the BlackBerry might have been deleted or destroyed as a result of the lockout

    Yet on another story...
Now Dann's investigators have hit a snag, Aker reported.
"All that's happened is they've been locked out of the hard drive and they're still waiting to get in," said Ted Hart, a Dann spokesman.

So either its been wiped, or you just need a friggin password reset from the BES Admin

The Mayor of Detroit is also embroiled in a sex-perjury-text message scandal right now. He's married, cheated on his wife, lied about some other stuff, cost some good men their jobs, and sent text about all of it on his city owned BB. Thousands of message. Graphic, naughty stuff. The newspapers here are having a field day. He tried to say it was all inadmissable because it was personal, till he was reminded that a year or so ago he put a memo out to all city employees saying all communications on city owned devices were public records and to behave as such. Now he's up on 12 felony counts. People will never learn.
