BB's "falling back" too soon even with DST patch

    Hi all.

We are seeing an odd occurance. A Curve (which includes the DST fixes), an 8700 (that has the DST patch installed), and Pearl (that also has the DST patch installed), have all fallen back too early.

I can't explain it since all of them are supposed to have the new time zone tables.

    Anyone seeing this today?

I'm not sure its that because one of them has BlackBerry, another has Network, but all 3 have the correct "network" time, its just their devices have fallen back. Very odd.

Are you running bis or bes? Desktop manager? Make sure that if your computer doesn't have the patch and you are running desktop manager, that you do NOT have the device set to update the time via computer whenever connected.

the "blackberry" setting will get the time from the blackberry servers (which is what you want). "network" setting will pick up the times from whatever tower you are currently connected to.
this setting (i think) is good if you travel a lot and the time zones are constantly changing on your phone.

Not so sure about that, "blackberry" should really say "manual" it's not getting the time from blackberry servers, it's getting the time from what you set it. Network gets the time from the cell tower.

I think "BlackBerry" means it gets time from the RIM NOC while "Network" means get time from the cellular carrier's network.

Yeah, you guys are correct. I just looked it up in a manual.

To use the wireless network as the date and time source, set the Date/Time Source to Network
To use the BlackBerry network as the date and time source, set the Date/Time Source to BlackBerry
To set the date and time yourself, set the Date/Time Source to Off

I, too, have seen this. One time yesterday, & three times today. I have decided I can manually set it. LOL (I'm running OS 4.2.0.64 (since 4.2.1.107 is so damned buggy).

When set to Network (which is displaying the correct time) it changes. When set to Blackberry, the time still changes. Can't win, it seems. Guess 'OFF' is the key. :-\ lol

Just had to reset for a 4th time, to boot. The bloody congress sure knows how to muck up the works, huh. Like Churchill said [paraphrased], "The American Congress will always do the right thing ...after everything else has failed."

One thing I found extremely interesting about this phenomenon is that when I turned the 'source' to 'OFF'... the time STILL changed. In addition, the 'Network Time' showed the correct time but when I selected 'Update' the time fell back an hour behind the network time!?

My solution?? I have selected the next time zone to the East of me, and that brings the time to the correct time. On Sunday (next), I shall change the zone back to what it ought to be. If that doesn't do it, then I just admit defeat!! lol

I don't understand why BB hasn't addressed this issue. I know for most this inst a big deal, but i have an 8100 w/DST patch using BES and now most of my calendar appointments are an hour behind!!!! Ya, i can change the time, but its not going to fix my calendar. This sucks!

I agree. I'm having this same issue with my 8700.
