I believe tmobile sends a text message telling you when there is an upgrade, but I'm not sure how soon after RIM eraleases it. I don't know about other carriers.

Oh wow, my pearl hasn't let me down yet! Putting the minor annoyance of not being able to take/stream videos aside, this is hands-down the best phone I've ever owned! I'm so glad we can finally edit M$ documents, now I can do those essays on the road! Go RIM!!!!! Someone send me a message to my pin or something!

It will be loaded up to http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/ in a while after it launches, although I imagine we will ALL have it pretty soon after it launches.
