Hi All, like the rest of you I am hoping the new 4.3 or 4.5 will be out soon but the main reason I wanted the upgrade is so that I can use my Bluetooth speakers "Gear4 Black box mini " I did not do my research before i purchased them and now have found out that my Pearl needs the A2DP service to work. Does any body know where I can get just the A2DP part? As you have guessed I am a novice so if there is any one that can help I will need a full talk through on how and where to do it. Thanks in advance, P.S great site, hopefully in time I might be able to contribute here and help people!

As far as I know, A2DP isn't a part, but an actual Bluetooth technology. Just like Bluetooth has 1.2, 2.0, multiple links to one device. Sterio BT headsets only work with A2DP devices. So its not a part you buy, but technology in the phones software or operating system. Can't wait for the new OS!

What the new OS means for your phone

soo..i know this was probaly already here somewhere but thought you guys would like to know exactly what the new OS is supposed to do for phone.

What the BlackBerry Update Means for You

BlackBerry owners rejoice! The upcoming BlackBerry 4.5 software will vault your Pearls and Curves into the top ranks of multimedia devices. We got RIM to explain, model by model and server by server, what the new software will give existing BlackBerry owners. (Version 4.5 used to be called 4.3.1, if you're really plumbed into the BlackBerry landscape.)

Here's the scoop by model number.
If you have a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 or BlackBerry 8800, you'll get:
• Spell check (H)
• BlackBerry Maps with Points of Interest (H)
• Improved media player with playlist support and automatic playlist generation (H)
• Voice note recording (H)
• Streaming support for YouTube and Sling Player (H)
• Bluetooth stereo music (H)
Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
• Native format attachment downloading (S)
• HTML e-mails (S)
• Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
• Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
• Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

If you have a BlackBerry Pearl 8130, you'll get:
• Automatic playlist generation in the media player (H)
Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
• Native format attachment downloading (S)
• HTML e-mails (S)
• Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
• Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
• Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

If you have any BlackBerry Curve or the BlackBerry 8820 or 8830, you'll get:
• BlackBerry Maps with Points of Interest (H)
• Improved media player with playlist support and automatic playlist generation (H)
• Voice note recording (H)
• Video recording on Curve models (H)
• Streaming support for YouTube and Sling Player (H)
• Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
• Native format attachment downloading (S)
• HTML e-mails (S)
• Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
• Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
• Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

If you have a BlackBerry 8700 or 8703e, you'll get:
• Spell check (H)
• BlackBerry Maps with Points of Interest (H)
• New pictures and ringtones applications (H)
• Voice note recording (H)
• Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
• Native format attachment downloading (S)
• HTML e-mails (S)
• Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
• Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
• Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

If you have an older BlackBerry, maybe it's time to upgrade!

For GSM devices there are already some Beta versions floating about, and there should be releases from the carriers soon.

For those with CDMA devices (like me), I don't even know if it's on the horizon yet.
