I'm supposing that might be what you are seeing - I haven't tried enabling those policy items myself, so I don't know if they cause the item to disappear or if they give you a "denied" message.
Could I call my bes and hav them unblock it

    hey guys and gals....

just called verizon customer support....the rep told me that a few hours ago they decided to, and I quote "change their minds" (that made me laugh)....about the OTA availability.

the web-based upgrade is obviously available right now...but if you try the OTA option...you will keep getting the 'no upgrade available' message.

the rep told me that, while the ota was supposed to be available today...due to that 'changing of minds' it is now scheduled to be ready tomorrow.

i asked about a specific time...he said no clue...but thats the schedule as it stands now. hope this info. helps!

    Hi Guys,

Forgive the ignirance but does anyone know if this .75 version is only valid for US and/or Verizon customers? I got a Storm from Vodafone Ireland today and am pretty disappointed with the sluggishness of the OS and particularly the delay switching orientation which I really can't believe is so slow. Will the Verizon .75 upgrade work on my Irish Vodafone device? I'm currently operating off 4.7.0.65 (platform 4.0.0.76) with the OTA wireless upgrage option in advanced options disabled by Vodafone.

    Regards,

    Ben

I don't know for sure whether it would work or not, but it doesn't make sense to when you can use the legitimate Vodafone update :-) Theirs is 4.7.0.78. Higher number...probably almost the exact same changes as Verizon's. Get it here:

    Good luck!

Vodafone is GSM so the Verizon OS will not work for you.

Do you have your DM set up to check for updates automatically? Also, check the wireless upgrade option on the device.

    Hi All,

First of all thanks for bringing this .78 version to my attention, my 9500 is working much much better after installing it.

One issue I have though is that I no longer have Blackberry Desktop Software listed in my list of programs!! I run XP and have looked in all the folders but nothing. In "Add or Remove Programs" there is a program called "Blackberry Device Software v4.7.0 for the BlackBerry 9500 smartphone" listed but I guess that's not the Desktop Management software? I deleted the desktop management software before loading the .78 program thinking the .78 was a new version of the desktop software which also updated the OS on the phone but now I'm thinking they are two completly different applications which just happen to have similar version numbers i.e. the current Desktop Manager available to download from the BB site is 4.7.0 B50 whereas the latest device OS available from Vodafone Holland per the links above is 4.7.0.78 which I have already loaded on my 9500.

Am I correct therefore in assuming I need to install both in order to sync my device etc? I know this is a very lame question but I would nevertheless appreciate some guidance from those more expert than me which seems to be just about everyone else on this thread :-((

One final thing - If I am to download and install the seperate desktop software should I download the version with the media manager or not? It's an extra 200mb and I don't want to download and install it unless it's going to be of some serious benefit. I find the battery on the device lasts barely 8 hours of truly normal use as it is so anything which is going to be a further drain on it isn't welcome unless it's a serious benefit.

    Regards,

    Ben
