folders on home screen

Is it possible to create a folder on the home screen of the 8700, or is that a feature of the theme?

On my basic 8700, there was an application folder, but after I changed the theme I don't have that anymore. I'd like to get them back to organize my icons.

Thanks for any input...

The list based themes use that feature while icon based themes you'll have to scroll through each application icon.

Find more list themes here:

Is that just for "other" themes? The one that originally came with my blackberry (8700c/cingular) has an application folder with the icons...

Re: folders on home screen

Is there any update on this? I have an 8703e/Verizon. I would like to know if there's any way to create sub-folders on the home screen to put certain applications in. Or is there a way to add the "applications" icon to the home screen without using a list-based theme.

Another way that this might work is if there was an application that can be installed that allows you to access all applications from some type of a menu, and then I would hide the icons that I didn't want on the home screen. Does anyone know of such an application?

Thanks.

Re: folders on home screen

Hi honda, welcome to pinstack.

One option for you is called the zen theme.

Here is a screenshot...

Notice there are 6 icons on the right hand side, and 5 of them you can choose which icons they are. The last icon on the bottom is an application icon. It contains everything on your BB that isnt show in the first 5 icons. Maybe this will help you a little, it did for me.

hondaguy900, Welcome to PinStack.

It's not possible to add an Application folder to a theme. You might be able to unlock the Cingular Icon theme that has the apps folder. You would need to follow the instructions in the How to Unlock all Hidden and vendor themes thread.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with your BB.

Re: folders on home screen

Does anyone know how to choose which icons appear on the home screen for the Zen theme? I just installed it, love it! But it has all my BIS accounts and the main messages folder, would love only the one messages folder there...thanks!

Re: folders on home screen

bruintrekie, Welcome to PinStack.

You have to open the menu or the Applications List and select Organize Applications or something like that. It's probably all the way to the bottom of the list. You can then move apps around on the list. The first 5 Applications in the list are the ones that show up on the home screen.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

Re: folders on home screen

Hello bruintekie, welcome to pinstack.

Did you get your icons arranged? I have my most used 5 on the homescreen and then 2 more, one on the left convenience key and one on the middle convenience key. Love having two of those.

Re: folders on home screen

Rcbjr and cp6169, no such luck. I go to the menu button (blackberry logo) and click it, the application list comes up, but nothing about Organize or anything like that. Is there a different version of the Zen theme I should try? Maybe it's not complete?

Re: folders on home screen

Figured it out, if you go to Options -> Home Screen, then you can reorder the Application List from here!

No worries...just glad it works...it would be a shame to junk the theme for a simple reason like that. Thanks...

Re: folders on home screen

Does anyone know how to turn off the Underline (shortcut key) on the menu, switched back to the insight theme for a day or so and noticed that all the titles of the programs have dashes under the names (like keyboard shortcuts) how do I hide those, kinda annoying. Thanks.
