    "Zero Key Not Working, CANT UPDATE FIRMWARE...HELP!!!"

    Hey All,

    Now I’m pretty savvy when it comes to fiddling around with my blackberry, but this situation has just got me crazy…all of a sudden my “zero (0)” key stopped working and I can’t email or text!

    I called TMO BB support and they said that I may have to upgrade my firmware and it’ll fix the keyboard bug (I’m running v4.2.1.107 platform 2.3.0.83). I know there is an upgrade out there through TMO, but will this solve my problem or is phone done for???

    Lastly, I tried to update the firmware last night for 2 hours using my HP computer running VISTA and VISTA just wouldn’t let anything happen. Every time I ran BB Desktop Manager, it would load up and then I would get a message from VISTA saying, “BB Desktop Manager has stopped working, VISTA will notify you of any fixes…” Then the BB DM would shut down. What in the world does that mean

    I downloaded the Software upgrade from TMO’s website, saved it to my desktop – then ran it – then opened BB DM – connected phone – ran app loader - & NOTHING. Program told me phone was updated (process took 1 minute when its supposed to take like 30-40). Ive had no problem doing this with XP, but I’m lost now…

    CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!?!?

    you first need to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8100-v4.2.1.107_P2.3.0.83...in there will be a file vendor.xml

    in order to install new OS you need to delete the vendor.xml file...then open up DM and run the app loader...this should help...post back with updates please

    you are running TMO's latest OS....v4.2.1.107 from what you said earlier.
    If reloading the OS doesn't fix it (which you're putting on the same OS as before), then its time for a replacement device.

    thanks. ill try that once i get home and give an update....i remember deleting the files when i was unlocking vendor themes, but wasnt aware that you needed to do that even to install a new OS...
