Roger's is the only carrier that has 4.2 up yet (I think). But you are right 4.2 is 4.2 no matter where you get it... You just have to delete the vendor file!

Ok Kids here's the deal....4.2.x.xx. You can't just take the first two numbers. Like every other computer program it will change with the versions and the that in turn will change the last two numbers and then in turn may change the third to the last number. All different versions.

    Rogers 4.2.1.94
    Cingular/AT&T 4.2.0.71 or 4.2.0.73

Anyways shane was looking at the Software Platform. Totally different from the OS version.

    Example

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.148 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.2.1.148
    Consisting of:
    • Applications: 4.2.1.94
    • Software Platform: 2.3.0.77
    • File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel148_PL2.3.0.77_A4.2.1.94_Rogers. exe
    • File size: 72.91MB
So when we talk about the Operating System, were are looking for the Applications. I know it gets confusing but I hope this helps. Just use the last 3 numbers.

Go to BBmanager and click on the backup/restore, click advanced. It should bring up another window. In the window there is a list on the left side that shows what data has been saved on the computer. Click on the contacts, hit the button to send them to the bb (should be an arrow pointing to the right) and do the same for messenger. follow through the prompts and do a battery pull. They should show back up.

Actually red that really is quite helpfull. That means that if I woulda looked at the program info at the download site then I couldve actually answered my own ? That is great I was wondering that other person who answered knew.

Thanks a lot red for the great info.

For the archives and searches...I have a Cingular/ATT Pearl 8100. I use it primarily with my companies BES but use BIS for personal as well. Just downloaded the Rogers update and upgraded the phone with zero issues. Works great. It's re-activated with the BES as well as the BIS. Love the separate SMS folder!
