KristinDarling...not sure if you already found your answer!!
But Wifi is technically free, you have to find a Wif hotspot, such as Starbucks, Libraries and other facilities that may provide it...although some places charge per data usage (Starbucks), some have it free, in which case it's also free for you!! but I believe it also may depend on your carrier

Hope this helps!! and someone correct me (please) if I'm wrong

    Darling,

Not sure exactly what you are looking to do...but here are a few answers....Your new 8120 will allow you to access open WiFi networks for Browsing as well as UMA phone calls. If you have the "talk forever" add on then the voice minutes are free, otherwise they just come from your regular minutes. Advantage? Potentially better signal strength. Browsing with data plan is reported to be faster than EDGE, again you may also find you have a signal in home with a WiFi router (like having an antenna in your house).

Browsing via WiFi without data plan appears to be possible if you can get a browser on your device.

Hope that helps - post back any questions!

Your phone should come preinstalled with the BB browser and you can use wifi with it to browse.

There are some apps though like the instant messengers, google apps, etc that won't work with just wifi and needs a data plan.

hmmmm dont you need the service books for your browser to be enabled on a wifi device? so if you dont have a data plan do you still get the browser service book?

If you have TMO, and you make sure your account has the free BBvoice only feature, then this gives you the ability to Send MMS (Picture Messages) and to get to t-zones, which will give you the Browser SBs, you will not be able to go anywhere other then t-zones when on TMOs NW, but on WIFI you will be set. Just remember that MMS rates would still apply to any MMS sent to recieved.

The Browser service books do not come installed. they have to be Downloaded form RIMs server. If you have the BB Plan it is fairly seamless. If you done then you have to add the Free voice onlt form RIM to get it. As far as I know only TMO has this. But it maybe either not need on other carriers or handled differantly

    Hey Girl,

I've had the 8120 for about 3 weeks now and i must say it's spanking, the WiFi is great and everytime i walk into a friends house who has the router set up my phone uses there internet. You must set this up at first but takes a min or so.

I hope you enjoy your new phone

It is not labled as such in the billing software, a Blackberry Rep wopuld understand but a CS Rep would get lost. In the Billing software it is labled as "Blackberry Voice only" It is also labled as such in the Blackberry admin tool we use.

The 8320( and i'm assuming the 8120 as well) does come with a wifi browser built in that does not require service books. ( Ie the wifi browser option under options, advanced options, browser, default browser configuration) The service books only come into play for the internet browser option under the default browser configuration. This set of service books (internet broowser) are required to be able to get onto the data network on T-mobile.
