What The Heck Do I Do?

Okay! I see that the Blackberry community is very complex so since I know there are numerous geniuses online, I have to ask for help! I have purchased two Blackberries in the last four months. My first Pearl's sound would go in and out so I got a replacement. I swear less than 24 hours did I start having problems with this phone. Everything was cool until the crap would turn restart by itself. At first I became frustrated, but I started to get used to it until one day it a message came across my screen that read JVM Error 547. Below the messasge was restart which I pressed numerous times and the same message appeared. I can't even turn the phone off. So I came to Pinstack hoping for indepth instructions on how to revive my phone. I don't have another three hundred to buy another phone and i'm becoming extremely frustrated. Can someone help me out there?

Re: What The Hell Do I Do?

you may need to wipe and reinstall the OS. if no solution is found, heres how to go about doing so...

start by downloading and installing JL_Cmder, see that link for instructions

download and execute on your PC the latest software for your BB. see this thread for links to the sofware
download site for your carrier, Blackberry OS Software links (by carrier).

connect you BB to your PC, BACK UP YOUR PHONE

    open jl_cmder,

    select the wipe option

follow the instructions in this thread very carefully, How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't recognize The Device Is Connected

Have you tried a battery pull yet?

Before I went to the extreme of a complete wipe I would try an operating system upgrade. You can follow the same OS link above and install one of the newer OS and see if this helps.

Good luck and post back your results.

You need to install the os. The "cassette with the 507" means you don't have an operating system on the phone

There are a few more links for you to use in post #2

I concur as well. The wipe procedure listed above is a last ditch manuever. I don't think you are there just yet.

As mentioned above, have you tried a battery pull? This is the first thing you should do when you encounter serious errors, second only to documenting the problem so we can help troubleshoot it.

I'm going to eraearch the error and get back to you. Yet to think of anything else that might be pertinent and post it.

Research is turning up nothing besides a very small handful of people with the same problem since November. No one has figured it out yet that I can find. So hits let's get cracking. From the other people it looks like using jl_cmder has either not been useful or not been possible.

It definitely is Java Virtual Machine Error 547 although it is not documented anywhere that I can find.

Re: What The Heck Do I Do?

Okay everyone I followed the Desktop Manager installation and the Handheld device installation and so they're on my computer. So I put my phone in the USB port and new information went into my phone and then afterwards a new message came across my screen. It's the same cassette with a NEW number:543! Is this the lottery? Any suggestions?

Re: What The Heck Do I Do?

Now i'm beginning to get frustrated..I followed the instructions on the link above and I did everything carefully. So finally the cassette went away and the spinning glass continued until the screen went off and the phone restarted by itself and went back to the same cassette with the numbers 543. I just don't see anymore options...my phone has been off for a week. I have missed so many calls and so many messages and the worst part is that I'm still paying for minutes on a phone that doesn't work. Any sympathy....

My idea? Call your provider, tell them what's going on and ask for the credit back. Take your phone back and demand am exchange. Upgrade from the pearl to the curve :P
