    What is difference between batteries?

So I have a yellow battery that is pretty much square in shape. I have seen a battery that has more curves and it looks like it would be a little wider, but they both fit fine in the phone.

Is this just cosmetics or is one or the other better?

That's probably the OEM sized extended battery.

I think you're talking about the batteries in 83xx series devices. They will power on an 81xx but it is too thick for the battery cover to close on it. On my 8100 it is anyway...

they both fit on the 8120. I guess it's just cosmetic then. They are both yellow, with black plastic casing.

The importance is in the stats. Are both Li-Ion | Capacity: 1800 mAH | Volt: 3.7 ?

Right, I checked. Hard to read but they are the same. 3.7. That is all it says.

I have noticed the same thing.

I work in a store and see a lot of BB's. Some have OEM batteries that are more squared off and some have more rounded edges. It's something that I've noticed on both the curves and the pearls.

My guess is that RIM outsources the manufacture of the batteries and the differences are due to them coming from different manufacturers.

Kinda off topic, I have 8700 and have two batteries, both look the same but one has a locked icon on it, and has never worked (came in the phone)

Blue with white dots will be the CS-2 which is what comes on the 8700 model phones but I have seen the CS-1 batteries which are the same size as the CS-2 but don't work on any devices that use the CS-2 type batteries.

To be honest with ya I don't even remember what models used the CS-1 batteries. I don't think it was the 7200 series was it?
