What do you think of this deal?

Ok. Finally convinced my gf to get a blackberry. It took me a while bc she would rather a phone that just calls in and out and has an alarm - and that's it. She's not huge on technology or change. But anyways, I called up Cingular yesterday to see what kind of deal I could pull.

After a little talking with the guy, got a red pearl for $150 with the same minute plan she has now (yeah it was a new 2 years, but whatever). They are throwing in a Bluetooth (some nokia one that retails for $89), a leather case, a 3 pack of skins and a car charger. Also throwing in a 1 gb memory card for the pearl. And on top of all that, there is a $100 mail in rebate. All that for $50. Her mom (who has a 7100 with a cracked screen) heard the deal and wanted the same for her. So the guy did it for her too.

2 red pearls, 2 bluetooths, 2 cases, skins, 2 car chargers, and 2 microsd cards for $50 each after rebates. They will be here on Saturday.

    Good deal?

Why didn't you work out a deal for a Curve (for you) and give one of them your current one?

Since it is HER money and HER phone, figured she could make her own decisions. Let me guess - you single?

Yeah, I contemplated that. But I have tmo so I would have then had to get it unlocked, and I really have my heart set on the 8320 (with wifi) when it comes - and hopefully it comes to tmo. But it was a good idea - should have at least asked what price he could have gave me.

Yeah, Im very jealous of your deal... I just did a phone upgrade from T-mobile (been with them since the Voicestream days), and it was $249 after rebate and 2-yr contract renewal, with no accessories. Great job!

lol, I think I know what you mean... Every time I do one of these upgrades they like to try to reset my 'start date'. Everytime I have to call in and tell them to change it back to what it was. Then, most of the time they don't anyway...

I think they don't want me to have the leverage of being a loyal customer...

Even TMO admits that they dont compete with their indy partners. A little shopping pays big dividends!

Re: What do you think of this deal?

I actually found that at Fry's electronics, they were offering the Pearl for $350 with a $300 instant savings plus a $50 mail in rebate with new activation on T-mobile. I just received my rebate yesterday after only about 2 weeks, so the phone ended up free, plus I was able to talk them into extending that deal to me with only a one year contract (no deposit and free activation) Not bad if you asked me. In fact I sent my brother, his wife, and my mother in and they all got the same deal and Fry's ended up selling out of them (which is bad for me because I went in to get another one by adding a line, and apparently my own family had the last ones LOL)
