WAV File Format - Can someone help me test this?

    Hi All-

New member of the forum here. I just found this site while doing some Google searches about the Pearl. Seems to be one of the better forums dedicated to BB's that I've found. Hopefully I can get some help.

My company uses a phone system that sends our voicemails into Outlook as WAV files. We also use BB's with BES. When at work the voicemails play through an Outlook add-on when each message is opened up. I can also forward these messages to anyone else and they can play them through a media player. Unfortunately these files don't play on any of the BB's we use. I get the email/voicemail on my BB but the attached WAV file won't open or play. I've been talking with our IT Director and he's interested in the Pearls but would like to know if they would support play back of our email/voicemails. Here's where you come in....

Is anyone willing to help me by sending me a PM with their email address? I'll call into work, record a voicemail, and then forward it to your email address. You can then try to play the WAV file on your Pearl to let me know if it worked.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks for the help. I just sent an email to you that should have the voicemail I recorded as an attachment. I was going to send you a PM to let you know what address to expect it from but apparently I have to have 20 posts before I can PM a member.

So the attachment came through and you can see it listed as "1 Attachment" but don't have an option to open it? If so that is the exact thing that hapens on my 7520. Thanks for trying.

I can only assume that the WAV file format is incompatible. Anyone have any ideas for work arounds.

I just scanned over this, but try sending it to a GMAIL address then having that person access their gmail account via the wap browser..

In fact, feel free to send to me at n8d615@gmail.com

I have a work around. Send the wav to your MMS email address on the Pearl.

I found out whas MMS is and The blackberry receives MMS and plays the wav and shows a picture file, if attached.

I have Cingular, I have found that I have YET ANOTHER email address:
    8005551212@MMS.MyCingular.com.

So when my office voicemail sends an email with .wav attachment to the office, I get it on my blackberry, and as we all know, we can not open the .wav attachment.

SO I forward the email to my MMS email address, and IT PLAYS on the blackberry!

( i will try to find out if I can get them to send the email to two email addresses, then no forward is needed for me.)

(in case it matters, I do not use BES)

    Grasshopper,

I tried your method of playing the wave file, and the "mycingular" email address does not show up in my blackberry. Here's my questio: Did you set up that email address specifically to your blackbery account? I don't know where to find a pasword for that email address, or any other set up info.
Please elaborate if you can. Thanks.

That address is the email to MMS address for cingular and is your BB telephone number in place of the 80055512120. BTW that number is land line information operator number for area code 800.

    Hope this helps.

Re: WAV File Format - Can someone help me test this?

Thanks. I did use my BB telephone number in place of 8005551212. It still did not work and the forward failed. I'd love a point by point description of exactly how Grasshopper made this happen.
    I'd appreciate anything anyone knows.
