Water damage to 8100, won't connect to network

    Hi

My Pearl recently got water damage as it was in a pocket of a coat that got drenched in heavy rain.

Have dried it for 3 days with battery/SIM out.

Phone powers up fine, everything functional and SIM OK.

Problem is it won't pick up any network (I'm on T-Mobile here in the UK). It says 'searching for network' then after a minute or so gives up and goes to 'no service'.

I've tried the SIM in another handset and it works fine.
I've tried another t-Mobile SIM in the BB Pearl and the same error happens.
I've tried manuall selecting network and automatically select network and still no joy.
I've done a full wipe and reboot.

Is there anything else I could so or should I just assume something shorted whilst wet and power still on and that it's permanently damaged?

    Many thanks in advance

My suggestion is just go to a T-mobile store and see whats wrong with your BB. You might have sent it in or if your phone is not older than 30 days, they will exchange it for a new one.

there might be moisture on the atenna contects inside you phone. I would disassemble it cause your warrenty is already voided. just clean everything inside the phone with a soft cloth or cue tip. Do at your own risk!!! but its not to hard its on the bottom of the phone where you need to look

Thanks for the input. I have to wait until tomorrow to dissasemble as I don't have the right screwdriver.

Is it worth using alcohol to clean or just a drip q-tip?

Also you mention the bottom of the phone, I thought the antenna would have been top right hand corner?

    Thanks again
