I too wish I could get the phone to vibrate and ring at the SAME time. There are many idiosyncrasies with the Pearl, but I am still hooked.

Even my 8700 and 7100 if I recall correctly used to ring first, and then the tone would sound. Perhaps it's just how BB makes their phones?

I was looking at my father's 7290 (yeah, I know it's ancient at this point) and was examining his settings. Even HE has the vibe+tone option but not the vibe & tone option. In otherwords (although he keeps his on vibrate all the time since he works for the Dept. of Commerce in DC) his phone would vibrate and then ring.

Oh, and my parents don't know I have a BB yet...so if any of you DO work for the DOC and run into a guy that looks like my profile picture...don't acknowledge him as my father.

I don't have Vib & Ring on my list just the following.

I checked under Advanced and it's not there

    Loud
    Vibrate
    Normal
    Phone only
    off

I found the option "Thank You". What does In Holster and Out of Holster mean?

    Thanks

As I understand it, the ringtones themself have to have the "vibrate" pattern written into the file in order for the phone to vibrate while simultaneously ringing.

    Hope that helps.
Maybe you can compose a ringtone and add the vibrating pattern with it, so when you upload it into the phone, the vibrate function will already be attached to the ring-tone.

    Good luck

its for people that elect to use OEM cases. There is a small magnet in these cases that puts the phone in sleep mode. The "In Holster" settings take over during that time.

Is there an option or a possible ringtone for a heavy vibrate? The vibrate option on the pearl is so soft i sometimes dont even hear it if it's on a table next to me. Anyone have any thoughts or feelings? Preferrably suggstions.

Only way to add any kind of vibration to ringtone (or any other music) is to add heavy amount of subsonics/subsonic harmonics. And that kind of tone Pearl's loudspeaker (or ANY mobile phone speaker) is NOT capable of reproducing. It requires biiiig driver unit... lower the tone, bigger unit is needed to reproduce it.

And by the way, all other phones I used (Nokia, Siemens, Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Samsung) have simultaneous vibration AND ringing, and that's what we are looking for.

Simply put, this can't be done. RIM has made it so vib+tone alternates. Lord knows why, and RIM apparently have no plans on fixing it.
