Since the boss runs Vista Home, I am assuming that he has Outlook 2007. Is there a problem with Mail Connector and outlook 2007?
I read Outlook 2007 was the source for some issues for users here so I wouldn't be surprised. Is it installed on the same computer you are trying to install this on also, or a PC next to it? Wonder if they have updated it for Office 2007 (like they had to with Desktop Manager for Vista), I assume they did.

I know this doesn't fit exactly with what we are attempting but might generate a few ideas

Re: Verizon 8130 and Email Attachments

So.. essentially I am an idiot. =]

I did some reading of everything GaryF posted for me yesterday. Did some seperate random googling and such. I eventually came across something where a guy said that while setting up BIS to use the Excange OWA (outlook web access) it asks for https://server.com/exchange. Well the BIS system automatically assumes that the /exchange is there. So I put in https://server.com threw in the rest of the proper information. I also double checked his mailbox name, and it wasnt named what I would have assumed it was named.

So long story and all of your help turned short? I got BIS to work! As soon as the boss comes in today, I am going to hammer his email with nine million attachments. Boy I hope it works.

Thank you all so much for your help. I know where I am going to come with future BlackBerry problems!

Since you all have been so nice to me, I am going to make sure to update you on what happens here, just in case someone has similar problems to me and can use this as a 'guide' on how to solve them.

P.S. As a note, if you are unsure of your outlook mailbox name. Since sometimes, especially with Vista's outlook, it doesnt display the name as it should. Just login via your outlook webaccess, and either mouseover the inbox button and look at what it is (http://server.com/exchange/MAILBOXNAME/moreinfohere)

Great news! Now you will want to un-install the desktop manager that has redirector running and reinstall selecting the BIS option instead. That will clean up the DM install and you will no longer need to have Outlook running in order to receive emails on your BB. Also make sure that Outlook is set to Leave Messages on the Server. At least for a day. Otherwise Oulook will beat the BIS server and clean up your inbox before the BB has a chance.

Looking forward to your next update!

Ok this setting to make outlook 'Leave Messages on the Server' for at least a day. Is this going to be on the exchange server end, or inside of outlook itself?

On the Outlook program that access the bosses email. Look under Advanced account settings. Here is a screen shot from Outlook 2007:

Looks like things might be working guys. Now that I have BIS setup, and the boss just showed up, he said for the last hour his emails have been showing up in duplicate. This must be because we have desktop redirector and BIS setup simultaneously.

Now, to test an attachment, if that works, time to reinstall the desktop manager.

    Wish me luck!

Re: Verizon 8130 and Email Attachments

OK Well. The boss has been in a meeting all day. The kind of meeting that I cant barge into sadly. However, before the meeting started, I was able to verify some new things! Good things mind you.

    1) ATTACHMENTS REALLY DO WORK NOW!

    2) Before I had mentioned that 'emails' from redirector were being sent over to the 'messages' section on the phone. You know, the one with the mailbox icon. Once the BIS was set up, things started appearing in the name@server.com email icon. This is where I was able to open an attachment from.

    3) I do have desktop manager v 4.3 reinstalled right now. I am just waiting for my boss to get out of his meeting so we can reboot his computer. (I hate saving stuff and rebooting someone elses computer without their express permission, even if I am the IT guy here.)

So, barring any explosions upon reboot. I think you guys may have solved my problems!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I dont know how I could ever repay you guys!
