    endfro,

This site is also where you can try to set up your email account to push directly to the BB without the need to use the redirector. If this is successful you will want to uninstall the DM and reinstall selecting the BIS installation instead of the BES/Redirector install.

Let us know how it goes...we have the "A" team on this one (thanks Cliff and Harry)!

    *hums the A-Team theme song*

Thanks for the update. I really appreciate all the help here you guys. As far as this BIS page goes. I know that I do not know any logins off hand and would have to wait for my boss to arrive today. But I also have this feeling that I will say "What is your login to the BIS?" he will say "The what? I dont know!"

So is there a way I can find that info maybe on a Verizon bill? Also, BIS doesnt cost money does it? I know that we pay for the normal allotted minutes on the phone plus extra money for unlimited data on the phone (for emails and such was the idea). Let me know!

No, BIS is no additional cost if you have the data plan. What you are actually looking for is his account login - if the boss has never accessed VZ online then you can create a new log in ( you will need the device PIN and ESN found in Options>Status). You may also need the email account password.

the unlimited data is the BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service)
you can ask him if he used the E-Mail Settings icon and created a blackberry.net account

Actually if you have access to the phone you may well be able to resend the service books from the set up internet email application (on the BB) cliff mentioned above....

Re: Verizon 8130 and Email Attachments

Removing the battery with the device powered on seemed to do nothing. Boy what a long startup. =]

He had an existing BIS account set up. When I click the 'edit' email settings button (i just wanted to look at the settings) it says that the Mail Connector or something is not properly set up. Is this because I am trying to edit the email settings from a computer without any blackberry software installed?

I re-sent the service books to the device. Am I supposed to power down and power on the device now? Or can I just go with it?

    *****EDIT******

I did not power cycle the device after re-sending service books. And I sent a new email with a new attachment. Same problem. It sees the attachment but it does not let me open the attachment or show the option for such a thing.

What do I do now? =[

Yes, the reboot can be lengthy but it cleans things up.

    1. You do not need any software installed in order to edit your email settings.
    2. Not to sound repetitive but I would suggest you delete the account with the error and set it up again.
    3. Did you get any message on your BB after you resent your service books.
    4. How big is the jpg file you sent?
    5. Did you try another type of file? excel or word docs are fine.
    6. Exactly how are you attempting to open the attachement (menu key)?

Alright let me fix that email.

    See above =D

    3. Did you get any message on your BB after you resent your service books.
Nope, no messages, not in MMS/SMS, or anythign that 'popped up' on the screen.

    4. How big is the jpg file you sent?
    5.67KB

    5. Did you try another type of file? excel or word docs are fine.
Nope, I will try a word doc as soon as I re-add the email account.

One of the things I had read before is that you can open attachments by pressing enter on the "[1]attachment" thing. That has yet to work, so I will go to the menu and scroll through the options. Never have I seen an option relating to attachments or opening of anything. =[

Now that I notice. On the menu system, we have..

'Messages' 'SMS and MMS' and 'Email'(looks like a globe with an envelope)

Previously we have been checking his emails via the message button. When you go to the email button it always shows as empty. Note though that as soon as I deleted the email in the BIS control panel area, it also turned 'email' into 'email setup'.

Are things sounding correct here? I am now starting to get lost.. haha.

Re: Verizon 8130 and Email Attachments

Try highlighting the attatchment and hit the trackball. You should get a menu that included "Open Attachment"

Menu Button will give you full menu if you scroll down you should see the "Open Attchement" option.

If I highlight test2.JPG (5K) and press the trackball the menu shows 'file, reply, forward, reply to all, delete, full menu'

If I highlight '1 Attachment', I get 'Copy, file, reply, forward, reply to all, delete, full menu'

Re: Verizon 8130 and Email Attachments

Messages Folder should include all three.

You can use the set up email icon to set up the BIS account for the phone but - I am getting concerned that you are trying too many things at once....are you still getting emails now?

This sounds like a unit without BB Attatchment Service installed....

Please confirm you see this under Options - Advanced - Applications.

If yes, I suggest you delete it an reinstall with the DesktopManager.
