Looking for a really bright torch? When you get os 4.3, which has a video camera app, there is a solution!
Simply configure the right hand convenience key as 'video camera', and then press the 'space' key to turn on permanent light. Be careful, it's so bright it'll hurt your eyes!

For those who were able to get the blinkberry demo to work on their phones, the full version (for $9.99) works even better...it does all that its supposed to do. I had the demo for about a week, and then I purchased the full version!!

Is there something like this for the 8130 that keeps the camera flash on?

Alright guys. . . got a simple fix for ya. . . . if having a flashlight is that important to you. . . AND ITS FREE!

    go into your video camera mode. . . . go into options. . . . enable flash. . . .

    NOW . . .

    go into your general options . . . . then "keyboard/screen" options . . . .

I went down to my "Right soft Key" settings and changed it to my "video camera".

    THEN. . . .

Everytime I need a flashlight. . . I hit my right soft key. . . . whaa lah! My video camera comes on WITH THE FLASH!

    instant FLASH LIGHT!

THIS is actually what you said. . . . I made a "shortcut" so that you don't have to go into your video camera mode, THEN turn on the flash. . . .

    Sorry for the confusion

Re: Using the Pearl's flash as a torch

I just created a wallpaper for my phone that is all white. So instead of downloading anything, I just switch wallpapers.

Comes out being the same thing anyways. What I would really like, is the "flash" from the camera to be used as a light.

Yeah...the flash from the camera would be really kool!! its really brite....but BlinkBerry works great, I tried Lanterna (which is the same as having an all white wallpaper) and its nowhere near as brite as the BlinkBerry Flashlight Option...
