Using Internationally - How to stop default 1 from Address Book?

Hey - Does anyone know how to stop the address book from putting a 1 on the front of the number when dialing. I have the Cingular Pearl, but got it unlocked so I could use it here in Australia. I have a vodafone SIM card. Anyway, my problem is that when I dial the Aussie contacts that I have in my address book, the phone sticks a 1 on the front thinking I am in the US. This results in a failed call. How do I stop this?

    Thanks again! You guys rock.

    Hi cltDeac,

First let me welcome you to the stacks!

    Try this:

Hit the green call button, when your call list shows, hit the BB menu key, and select Options, Under Phone Options select Smart Dialing

The first entry there is for Country Code, hit your menu key again and select Change Option and make sure you save your changes.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~never had to do that with my +44 users - however without smart dialing code in place users have experienced contacts failing to look up properly- displaying the number but not the name - unless the number was stored in the OTHER field, weird, anyone got any insight to this?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Clt, Glad to have helped! Angie

    Andrew,
I tried to duplicate what you are saying by removing country code. However, it doesn't seem to have any effect on my contact lookup. Are there any other considerations in addition to removing the country code?
