This needs to be modified slightly. For the Pearl (8100) use the Standard Modem with a speed of 115kbps. You will be glad you did.

I love using my pearl as a modem! Its fast! I can even send BB messenger IMs and service is not interrupted!
But beware the desktop manager must remain open the entire time or you'll I lose service!

Lollie, t-mobile just released a new version of the desktop manager that works with vista. go to tmobile.com to download it, supposedly should work. I have XP so can't promise you.

I use my pearl as modem sometime when there's no wireless connection.. Its not as fast. Only 115.2 I believe.. Its like a lil faster than dial up..

And yeah when I set it up, it was crazy, I followed all the instructions and still got like 3 different kinds of errors. And finally when I was just ready to give up, it finally connected!

    *bump*

this (or another version) should be stickied for new members who go right into the 8100 forum and wish to know about modem use. (a lot of ppl don't use the search function)
