    Urgent: 8100 & Charging.

Hi, I just recently purchased a blackberry 8100 off ebay "new". The deal is when I plug it in to the USB port (yes, I have referred to many threads, but I have not found an answer I am looking for) I plug it in the USB port and it charges. It has the battery with the charging sign.

I plug it into my wall outlet, it does the charging sign briefly, but then disappears. It is not the outlet, because I have two different ones.

So basically, I need to know whether or not I should return it... or if there is a better solution (like rebooting the OS... format..)

    Heres what i've tried:

    Turning it on and off.

Pushing the charger in only a little.

Pushing the charger in all the way.

Taking out the battery waiting 5 seconds. Putting it back in.

I don't understand what it could be because if it charges with the USB it should with the outlet. (I Also have an outlet where I can put a USB cord in) and i inserted the one that actually charges, and it's the same deal.

Please help. I have to call the guy tomorrow and see what I have to do!

is your phone fully charged when you test it?

if it is it automatically stops charging the battery once it is full.

have you tried using the wall charger when it was half full or less?

if it works with the usb charger it should work with the wall charger unless it is the wall charger itself that is the problem

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like the wall/travel charger is bad. Do you have access to another charger to see if it works with a different one?

Just FYI. The charger that is used by the Motorola Razor is also compatible. I bring this up because those chargers are more readily available than the blackberry branded chargers.

It wasn't fully charged when I tested it, but it was about 75%. I have more than one charger, so unless both are defective, I cannot think that is the issue.

I'll try to let it go to half full, and charge it.

    P.S...

Thanks for all your help people

when i said half charged i was using that as an example of not being fully charged. the charging symbol should show up even if its only 99% charged if you get what i mean.

so youre saying youve tried both wall chargers?

does anyone know if there is a wiring or pin difference between the usb plug and the wall charger plug?

I wouldn't think so. I'm just scratching my head here as it seems strange that it would charge off the pc and not off of a good travel charger.

Try charging off of the pc again and see if you can get it charged up to 100%. I'm wondering that you may not be able to do it as the only problem that seem plausible here is that the USB jack on your phone may be having problems.

First time I hear for such problem. Like wxboss wrote, looks like bad charger.
