    upgrading to a new device

So, I've had this pearl for a few months now, and I keep having problems with the memory. Its constantly erasing my messages and call logs, I spoke with a Verizon customer service rep, and he suggested that I switch to their curve. Aside from a full qwerty what are the benefits of owning a curve over the pearl?

Does the curve have a memory leak issue? What about reception? Does the device perform better than its smaller counterpart?

    All your replies are appreciated.

I'd like to get the Curve too but am locked into the new every two until next August. That said, I too was having enormous memory issues until I upgraded my device OS to 4.5.0.56. Now I have like 3 or 4x more memory than before. Just a thought.

Also download SoftReset and run it every couple of days and it will restore your leaked memory.

As for the Curve, it does have much more memory and I dont' think it has leakage issues. Reception is the same. The big plus is the full QWERTY keyboard.

    Good luck.

So then the only differences are the full qwerty and a bit more memory?

Actually the on board memory is the same for the 2 devices. Different Operating Systems as well as installed themes and applications will impact this. Curve also has reported memory leak issue, again this varies by OS.

I actually find more available memory on my 8100 than my 8320 due I beleive to the applicaitons to support the WiFi functions....

Just for some clarification, the 8330 Curve does have more on board memory than the 8130. 96mb for the Curve and 64mb on the Pearl. This is the only of the 83xx series to come with more memory to date.

That's my favorite thing about my Curve, no more soft resets every other day and I have many more applications and themes on my Curve than my Pearl could even think of handling the full qwerty and bigger screen are nice bonuses too......

if verizon wants to give you a free curve i would take it. I havent gotten my 8330 yet but i love my 8130. I would say try it out and see if it helps. 30 day return policy is a great thing. I have to agree with everyone here, more memory on the curve is most likely gonna result in more themes and more programs with less soft resets and memory leaks. I have had 3 BBs so far and getting my fourth and i have had minor memory leaks on all of them. i think its more about maintain your device and not over loading it with crap. I havent had any problems when i maintain my device. and i have alot of stuff on them. hope that helps.

I agree with curve247, get one and try it for a couple weeks. If you don't like it, take it back.

Maybe the curvey has mem leakage as well, but my buddy has had his for 2 months or so and has yet to run it below 25MB and has never soft OR hard reset it.

Well, thanks azstar - something new every day! I was not aware of the bonus memory on the 8330 ( I could use that on my 8320, it starts with only 55mb in file total)

    Thank you ALL very much!!!

So, stinky VZW does not have the WIFI feature... That's alright, I can deal without..

I just got off the phone with customer service and they say I'll have it by 3pm today! I wonder which version it is.. Their website advertises the 8330; and the rep told me I'd be getting a brand-new-in-box-tele... I will let y'all know how it works out!

Again, thank you all VERY much!!!!

You're quite welcome. BTW, you'll be getting the 8330. That's the CDMA BB and the only one that Verizon and sprint carry due to their networks. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
