Unlocking Blackberry pearl through IMEA number

    Hi All,

Read a couple of threads about possibly unlocking Blackberry Pearls. Just need to send of the IMEA number, pay Ł20 and follow simple instructions..

I'm happy enough with that side of things but can't find an answer to my next question that will determine whether or not I pay for the Blackberry Pearl to be unlocked..

Ok so I got a Phone that used to be on UK Vodofone - Locked.
I need to get this unlocked to use my UK o2 sim card in.
The guy who sold it to me did not send me his Sim Card so my question is: Do I need a vodofone simcard to actually unlock this through sites that offer unlocking services through IMEA numbers etc.

Hope someone can help and apprecaite any feedback..

    Plewis.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~The company that you have gotten information from is going to give you an "unlock code" generated from the IMEI # for your 20 pounds. Although, until it is actually unlocked you will need a Vodafone SIM to access the features of the device, including unlocking it. So, you have two solutions. 1. Pay them their 20 bucks, borrow a Vodafone SIM from somebody, and follow the instructions to unlock the phone using the code. 2. Find a company that unlocks the phone for you. There are many out there on the net if you just do a search. These companies require you to send them your phone, they then unlock it using a computer, software, and a cable. It usually costs around the same price as the "remote unlocking" that you have already looked into($20-$50). You can also buy the cable and software, but this is usually significantly more expensive. The only other option would be if you can still get in touch with the seller, often times service providers will provide the unlock code for free to original owners who are in good standing with the carrier. You would still need to find a friend or someone with a Vodafone SIM to borrow to actually unlock the BB, but it would be free. Hope this helps. Good luck getting it unlocked.

Can this Guy(Plewis) from UK please tell me where I can unlock my Blackberry 8100 Pearl.

I've had it for the past a month, locked to O2 UK, bought from e-bay, & I'm T-mobile user.

It seems you've found where to unlock in UK

    Please help me......

    Ayo,

There was a new post today in the Buy-Sell forum for remote unlocking. I do not know this vendor nor their service but I did ask if they can unlock international carriers, this has been a fairly common question. You might want to check that thread.
