    Unlocked 8100 on Cingular

I'm brand new to world of BB as well as to this forum. Just couldn't wait for the Cingular release so I got one on eBay and unlocked it with the help of GSMphonesource ($55). After a few easy tweaks, it is working perfectly - sends and receives, gets online via CingularNet, etc. but I can't get the Blackberry Browser to work. Is the BB Browser more comprehensive than the Cingular Browser? Is it worth it to worry about?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    Tsolly,

Mine is coming today. What did you need to do to get the email/cingular.net working?

Any details you can provide would be a HUGE help. I'm a novice. Thanks

Hello - first, I set up the online account w/ Cingular at (it won't let me post the URL but you go to the BB website and go to support>BB Internet Service and choose Cingular from the list at the bottom). You can set up your email accounts from there. Also from your account, you need to click on Service Books and tell it to push the service books to your phone. From there, go to your phone in Options>Advanced Options>Host Routing Table and select any of the entries there. Push the button with the dots on it just to the left of the trackwheel (don't know what it's called) and select Register Now. You should then receive a registration message on your BB. For the WWW, go to Advanced Options again and select TCP. Change the APN to wap.cingular. Change the Username to WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM. Change the Password to CINGULAR1. I used caps as listed. That should just about do it.

Awesome - good luck and let me know if you hit any snags. FYI - this thing is great. Just came over from the Windows based world after years of being frustratated by lack of push email but not wanting to carry around one of the bigger BB's.

Does anyone have a solution to get the web browser to work on an unlocked 8100 (formerly T-mobile). I am a Cingular (former ATT) subscriber. I am also a real novice using Balckberry. I tried the above solution, but did not get any different results.Thanks.

have you registered your handheld and sent all the service books?

my browser wasn't working either, but entering all the WAP information fixed it.

now, above you say that you were formally ATT...is your SIM card Orange or Blue? May need the Cingular Orange SIM card to make it work.

Call your service provider. They will give you the info to unlock the phone. it must be a Branded phone by that company too.

I am also a Cingular customer using an unlocked TMo Pearl. The browser is also not working for me. I have also made the above TCP changes. My sim card is the generic white SIM from Cingular which I think Cingular used during a transition period from AT&T.
