    Unknown icon. What is it?

Hi all, I'm new here but have had a blast looking around the last few days. I have a new problem with my 8100, and need advice.

Last night I noticed a new icon at the top of my screen. It's where the new message icons show up. There's a "1" and next to it is what looks like a very small smiley face with a red star partially covering it. So it seems I have "1" new "something"? I've looked in my e-mail box and nothing. I've looked in my text messages and nothing new there either. Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a message in BB messenger. The star means that it is unchecked. Might also try checking the "Messages" folder, could show in there as well. (Sorry, I don't use BB messenger that much.)Hope this helps.

Yep, sounds like somebody sent you a request or IM using Blackberry Messenger. Checking your Messages folder also brings it up, since as far as I've seen, it collect all messages coming to your BB; email, BB messenger, Google Talk, SMS, etc.

Yay! Got it. It was a BB Messenger "Request". I've never used it, and don't plan to. It DID NOT show up in my messenges folder though. I also had my icon for BBM hidden, so that didn't help. All better now.

    Thanks!

Only BB messenger messages will show in your messages folder, not requests...

Nothing against bbm or anyone who likes it. I don't use any of the I'm type stuff. I had an aol account back in the day but mainly used it to talk to my gf while at work. She's been my wife for going on 5 yrs now. She and I see youth counselors at a church and I have images of our BB's exploding if they knew it was an option! Thanks for making this place so cozy. I will be around for sure!

But that's the beauty about BBM, Both participants have to have Blackberry Devices and you have to provide your PIN to the other, or know theirs to send an request to accept them.
