    Uninstall problem for 8100

I noticed today an icon for yellowpages.com on my Pearl which I did not install. I'm thinking it may have been packaged with an OTA for twitterberry.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Also, I want to uninstall it, but it isn't showing up on my Desktop Manager.

    Any ideas?

I'm browsing now to see if Pinstack may have anymore info. I apologize if this has already been asked somewhere else.

I see that there is some talk about the same problem, but has anyone solved the problem of services books and pulling the battery only to have the icon back?

Yeah, various threads have been started for this new "feature" from AT&T. There's no way to remove it, unfortunately. I just ended up hiding the icon.

You need to press the BB menu button again and uncheck "Show All". That'll hide the icons instead of dimming them. The dim ones are the ones that you've chosen to hide.

    Lightbulb remove Yellow Pages

    Hi,

You can remove the Yellow Pages icon by going to Options -> Advanced Options -> Service Book. Delete the "Yellow Page VPL".

    Cheers,

If he ever needs to resend service books however, that icon will come right back won't it?

Yes, resending service books or resetting the device, the icon will be back.

...which tells me someone greedy has crossed the line into colonizing MY device -- not an unknown practice in the not-exactly-ethical field of advertising.

My response to such is just like the one to spam: I make it a point never, ever to click such an icon and if possible never use the service it refers to or buy anything from them. This does not harm the spammer/advertiser, but it means the company advertised is wasting its money. If enough of us let them know they are indeed wasting money and goodwill maybe the practice will subside.

After all, popup ads are practically extinct (on my browser at least)
