    Re: Uncaught Exception

I asked what service/OS, bc my gf got a new red pearl from Cingular this weekend, and after the first sync with Desktop Manager, she got an uncaught exception error (not sure if it is the same error as you). I called Cingular and they said it was a known issue with the Red Pearls after they hook up with the DM and the Handheld Software has been updated to fix the problem. They had me download and install a newer Cingular OS (with an updated library) and the uncaught exception went away.

They said this problem also caused disappearing browsers.

hard reset doesn't work...keeps getting same error. It seems to happen only when I delete a message off of the handset.

I don't have a red pearl. Just a standard one from Cing

You might need to reinstall your OS to correct this. Check out this thread, How to: OS 4.x Upgrade for your Blackberry for the how and Blackberry OS Software links (by carrier) for where to get it.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Uncaught Exception

dumb question - once I download the new OS from the cingular website, how do I "install it" before I delete the vendor.xml file? What am I "installing it onto" at that point? Not the device, correct?

    Re: Uncaught Exception

since you have a cingular phone and are installing the cingular OS, i don't think you have to delete the vendor.xml file.

    Re: Uncaught Exception

You install the OS file to your PC by executing the downloaded file. Then, if necessary, you can delete the vendor.xml file. But tecrishon is correct.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Uncaught Exception

That's probably the only solution if you have reloaded the OS. If you bought it from a store, take it to them and they should replace it for you.

    Good Luck
