    Unable to Open Email Attachments...

I am unable to open email attachments on my BB pearl. I have a cingular BB pearl with OS .67... I use POP email on the BIS and my work email on our company BES. Either email does not let me open the attachment.

The email shows the attachment but when I click the Trackball there isnt a menu option to open the attachment. I have tried to open pictures, docs, excel, power point... and all do not open and do not have the menu option.

Anyone know why this is or what I can do about it?

    Thanks.

    Happy Stackin'

Not sure what your problem is, although this same situation does occur if you have a video in your attachment as the BB doesn't support sending or reviving videos in messages.

Don't worry though, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out soon with a solution.

I have noticed that if the attachment is a type not supported by the Pearl it will not let you do anything with it.

If it is viewable when you press the MENU key there is an option near the very bottom to open it.

If there is a MORE selection when you press MENU select it so it can fully download the files.

Check out the RIM Fixed Server Thread. I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, but it may.

Re: Unable to Open Email Attachments...

Mick, I just sent a doc file to my pearl on Cingular and had no problem opening it. You might want to call your BB Admin and make sure that attachments are set up for your BB. Also Check in Options/Advanced Options/Applications for the the Blackberry Attachment Service entry. It may not have gotten loaded when the OS was installed.

    hope this helps

Frank, try deleting you service book for the WebClient, then logging in to your BIS account and resend the service book.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Unable to Open Email Attachments...

i tried resending the Service books when logging into the BIS, didnt work, but i didnt delete the service books first, i did call cingulars product management team and they basically said to wait for the OS to be released then download and reload it... the rep and i did some trouble shooting and we found that i am missing some modules under option>advanced options> applications> BB 4.2 core applications properties> i am missing the following modules...

    • net_rim_bb_attachment
    • net_rim_bb_browser_plugin_docview I>net_rim_bb_docviewcore
    • net_rim_bb_docview GUI

If document viewing is too important to wait, you should be able to download 4.2.0.067, see this thread, new OS.. download at your own risk =P and use it until Cingular releases .069.

Re: Unable to Open Email Attachments...

That's what I would do, then. Start with an uninstall, new download and execution and see what happens. Don't forget to delete the vendor.xml file. Speaking from experience on the last one.

sorry if this sounds really newbie-ish, but here goes.

just got my first bb pearl from cingular yesterday.
at work, installed the desktop software with the desktop redirector on my client PC. we have a SBS 2003 exchange server for our work e-mail.

been getting my work e-mail fine, but cannot view the attachments that were sent with the e-mail (tried .PDF & .JPG files)

we are a small company (10 people) with only 2 of us having blackberrys so the full BES would not be feasible for us.

just want to know if there is a "reasonable" way to view the attachments without the expensive Handango 3rd party software

    wmorimot, Welcome to PinStack.

Rather than use redirector, if possible, I would use either BIS to pull your email, or just forward them to your BIS account. That should get your attachments. Otherwise I can't help with redirector.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.
