Re: turn on camera flash light

I know there are a few that use the LCD screen as a flashlight, like I use the my flashlight program. But I have not seen any yet to control the camera flash. I have used the flash in video camera mode like you're talking about and it's much brighter than the programs that use the LCD screen........but also very hard on the battery.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I used camera flash as flashlight one time on accident and i have been wondering how to do it ever since. I remember my BB being off but I am not sure.

Blinkberry Demo is a great flashlight for the BB. It uses the LED indicator and it's verrrry bright. If you decide to try this out remember to just use the Demo and not buy the full version because as other stackers have warned me the full version doesn't work properly and the maker of this product no longer updates.

They've found the creator of blinkberry and he has updated the code. At least one person claims that it works with the 8120. It's one of my favorite apps for the 8100 so I'm really glad to hear that. I probably use it every day. The LED on the front of the phone is several times brighter than just making the screen white.

Blinkberry demo works great on my 8120, which pretty much makes my new phone complete.

The camera flash LED is much, much brighter than the LED on the front of the phone and 5x brighter than the flash in the 8100. Let's hope someone figures out how to use it as a flashlight.

You're right--the new 8120 flash is shockingly bright in comparison to the pearl I--it's almost like a real camera flash where it messes with your eyes when someone takes a picture of you. I would be a little concerned that a) if you left that thing on for more than an instant it would generate potentially damaging amounts of heat to its own filament/other components, and b) that it would eat battery power like crazy.
I'm pretty happy with the front LED light that blinkberry uses. It's much brighter than the screen 'flashlight' programs out there, and you can turn it on in less than a second, but it's no halogen car headlight caliber lumination like you could theoretically get with the camera flash.

On my 8130 in video mode with the camera you have the option to leave the flash on. It works great as a flashlight but does use lots of battery power!~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Interesting! I haven't fooled around with the video player enough to have noticed that. I wonder if it's the same brightness or somewhat less than when used as a camera flash. That pretty much shoots down my theory about incurring damage to the flash bulb during extended use.

The flash lamp is an LED. It shouldn't burn out for ~ 100,000 hours.

I would say brightness wise, I think the light used for the Video Camera is brighter than the LED when used with BlinkBerry, however it would use alot more battery power. I am curious to test how long a full battery would last while using the camera light. BlinkBerry still trumps for custimization however.

    Guess what folks...
    one button white flashlite.

Enable the light to be on all the time in video settings, then assign video cam to a convenience key (options > screen/keyboard settings).
    Boom diggity dog.
