    Trackball on 8110 is rough?

I had an 8100c and the trackball was smooth and tight. The trackball on my 8110 feels a little grainy and loose. It's fully functional, but does not feel as smooth as the one on my 8100. I have the trackball set on mute and sensitivity of 90.

I think its a trackball issue, and not a device issue. My 8300s trackball was really smooth, and my 8310s ball is "rough". My wifes pearl is the same way. If its a major problem go to cnn.cn and but a new ball and assembly-only about $10 plus shipping if Im not mistaken.

I noticed the same thing on my 8120. My 8100's trackball is very smooth but the 8120's trackball is rough and loose. It doesn't bother me so much to the point that I wanna return it or replace it though. I've only had the phone a month.

chockem, not sure if I am brave enough to replace the trackball.

Same here Erica. I can live with it no problem, but there is a noticeable difference.

I can't complain because I got my 8110 for $39.99 with a 2 year contract, also free next day air shipping and no upgrade fee. I think the price was a mistake. I called back about possibly exchanging it for an 8120, the pricing was totally different, 8110 $99 and 8120 $199. The CSR could not figure out how I was quoted $39.99 for the 8110. I'll take it

I called AT&T yesterday and the CSR point blank told me that the price was a mistake. I was quoted the price last Saturday. They notated my account and I placed the order last Sunday. It took them a while to place the order. I guess they had to honor the price and get the order through the system. Then again, I may have saw that price on my AT&T premier website. Anyway, I am happy. I was considering exchanging it for the 8120, but its all the the "regular" pricing, so I"ll stick with my 8110

there is nothing hard at ALL about taking the trackball/assembly out. the little silver ring aroumd the ball is just a retainer, gently pry one side then the other, and it will come off. then flip your Berry over and the cradle and ball will drop out in your hand. takes 2 minutes. if you do this i suggest using like a plastic nail file or something similar to pry the ring off.

Anyone else having this issue? I wonder if the trackball is loose and rough on all 8110s or 8120s?
