    took a swim..

yup, the pearl had it's first swim today .. a good 1.5 seconds under water.

Hopefully it works, I pulled the batter immediately and have it out in the sun drying.. inside the screen is all "misty" looking.. but it seems to be drying.

any tip on how long I should leave it out there for? 2? 3 hours?

you could always take a hair dryer on a low setting and help the drying out process. leaving it in the sun could cause damage in other areas.

i don't think it matters. which ever allows for the release of liquid the best. if the battery is out then probably face down would get the most benefit.

honestly, no. once you feel very comfortable that you have completely and sucessfully dried everything out.

just be aware all of this home remedy type stuff is strictly done at your own risk, and is probably a 50-50 shot at working. i've had previous phones (not BB's) work after letting them dry, so I really have no clue if this will work for you or not. i hope it does!

I hope that once it dries it will work for you. I'm too afraid to let my BB go near water. I did have a Nokia that took an accidental dunk in the toilet. It survived, but the sim card had to be replaced. Use the hair dryer method and be patient.

If had to be in an area where there is a water risk and not having it with me is not an option, I use a good ziploc baggy. You can still take and place calls with it without risk of splash danger.

    it works!

ringer works, camera works, can hear calls, make calls.. all buttons seem to work. the screen has some weird "white" coloring on it.. think that will go away over time?

I know it's not a Pearl, but last summer I had my RAZR that I forgot was on me, in my swimshorts pocket. Let's just say my RAZR went for about a 2.5 hr swim. I let it dry overnight and eventually everything worked on it just fine. About a week later, I noticed white spots under the LCD screen (that you can't get to unless you take it apart). It was hardly noticeable but I knew it was there. I didn't want my phone after that. I'm thinking it was some sort of mold or something. WE will pray for you Matt .
