Time to format a 2 gb microSD card

Hello all! I am trying to format my MicroSD card on my pearl... I get to the Format option under Advanced and select format card, and answer "Yes" at the "Erase Data" warning. I assume at this point it is formatting the disk but it just sits there. Sits at the "Erase Data" warning screen with the "Yes" option i selected highlighted. As of now it has been there for more than 20 minutes and i have no idea how much longer it will take... Anybody able to tell me the approximate time it takes a Pearl to format a SD card? Its a 2 gig SanDisk card. Thanks.

    Hi webbadass...

    Welcome to the stacks!

It is not normal, try the battery pull as indicated by gazar and let us know how it goes.

Re: Time to format a 2 gb microSD card

I get the same issue Webbadass....here are the details

    Card: Patriot 2GB microSD

    Steps1:

    1. Turned off Pearl and removed battery
    2. Inserted card (properly)
    3. Re-inserted battery in Pearl (connected to Desktop Manager after inserting battery)
    4. Once ON, Pearl asked if I wanted to "turn on Mass Storage mode"...selected YES
    5. Opened Apps >> Options >> Advanced Options >> Media Card...showed 1.92 GB of free space
    6. Clicked MENU >> FORMAT
    7. The "Warning: Formatting...continue?" window opened....clicked YES and pressed Pearl Ball
    8. Warning window froze (for over 10 mins)

then...I pulled the batt out for 30 secs...disconnected the Pearl from Desktop Manager and tried steps..
    1. Repeated all steps
    2. Stuck on step 8 again.

then..turned off Mass Media storage option
    1. Repeated all steps
    2. Stuck at step 8 again

I have done the battry pull 3-4 times...but it is not working..

    UPDATE:

I upgraded from Cingular OS (.71 or .74) to Rogers OS 4.2.1.94...

    1. Repeated all steps again
    2. Goes past Step 8 above...then freezes again..waited over 20 mins before battery pull

Tried battery pullout 3 more times with new OS...same issue
