    WELCOME TO PINSTACK!!

    ok
go to izarc's web page and download izarc if you have XP there should be a zip utility included but I always liked izarc more your choice though. anyway this will zip and unzip files so that you may use their contents or send their contents (depending on if your zipping or unzipping... anyway)
once you unzip the file you will have an .alx file and a .cod file.
place those in a folder (usually if you just "extract" the files they will end up in a folder on your desktop)
    next
do you have your device software and desktop manager installed?
did you buy your phone new from your carrier?
more important question, did it come with a CD?
if it came with a CD it will have both Desktop manager and your device's software. install both of those and your almost there.
(let me know if you don't have a CD we'll get you going yet)

ok now you have to make sure that the theme was made for your phone and your OS.
I don't know what kind of phone you have (if you get a chance fill in your personal info, phone model OS and whatnot) but let me know and we will make sure the themes you want will work with what you have.
if not, we'll see what we can do!!

    no problem at all.
have you unzipped your theme files?
if so all you should have to do is go through your start menu and there will be a new program set called blackberry highlight over that and you should get desktop manager as one of the things you can click on.
click to open desktop manager and plug your phone in.
next go to app loader and it will take some time to read what is installed on your phone and then it will give you a list of what is on your phone with check boxes to "add" or "remove" programs and themes.
closer to the top you will see and option to "add" click that and you will need to "browse" to the directory where you unzipped your .zip file, open it up and you will see the .alx file. select that and "open" it if the theme is for your OS and for the 81xx series of phone it will be added to the program / themes list with a checked box next to it.

hit next and it will tell you what you have decided to remove and what you have decided to add
hit finish and it will remove/add whatever you selected and then reboot your phone. while it is going through this loading and removing process
    DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE!!!
bad things can and will happen if you do that.

also while your getting familiar with desktop manager (DM) you should run the backup/restore utility, and do a backup of your phone. I recommend doing one once a week, you never know when something may happen and you need that backup for some reason.

anyway let me know if the theme does not install if it is not for your phone model or your OS it will come up with a msg that say something to the effect of "no additional software was found for your device"

make sure the theme you have is for OS 4.3 and for the 81xx series phone. good luck and let us know how it goes.

note: I can also help you with theme building but lets get this taken care of first!!
once again Welcome to Pinstack this is the greatest forum ever!!

There never was a 4.3 OS for the 8100

On your BB go to Options/About

The first line is your model number

Nope, sounds like a platform number. Post everything listed on the 1st 4 lines when you go to options/about on your BB

Wow, you sure it says 8100 not 8110. I have never seen even a beta 4.3 OS for the 8100. Did you buy this BB new? From where?

You will want to disconnect your phone after the loading operation finishes.
I have included pics in hopes that they will help with this process.
very good question from AZ where did you get your phone?

always use this process to "eject" your phone from your computer
