Re: The Original: Video encoding for the 8100

i noticed after playing the original and the converted video used with the blackbarry video coder, the size of the actual video stays the same! all it does it resize it, then ads the black edges to fit the screen. i noticed becase the converted video has more edges then the real video. when i looked close i saw the real video size was the same just shrunk. but the black edges are bigger. an axample is, i resized a video that is 640x520. making the real image if it was wide screen 240x120. but since its not wide screen and so the image isnt stretched, the program adds to the edges to keep the image same size but so it doesnt stretch. it ads 40 to the height makin it the actual screen size of 240x180. sorry if i lose some of you or you already know this btu im high. dont ban me pls.

I tried the Super program in the original post, but didn't know what to to with the .vob files- (maybe someone can point me in the right direction?)- I dragged and dropped a few .vob files into the Super interface, but was concerned about possibly having a bunch of different files, so I tried the Blackberry Video Program. I didn't know what to do with the .vob files on my hardrive either, so I popped in the backup DVD copy of the movie The 300. It took a few hrs, but it ripped the the entire disc (minus the intro movie trailers- how'd it know to do that?) into a 217 meg .avi file. Transferred it to the BB, and it looks and plays PERFECTLY! The latest version of of Super is apparently a bit different from when the original poster gave instructions, because I wasn't able to set the frames per second- I did see a post about dragging the .vob file(s) into Super, but it wasn't clear to me exactly how to manage the files. In any case, I had absolutely no problems using the Blackberry Video Program. I was initially concerned while watching the program render, because I was seeing stuff like "29.xx fps", thinking it might be too high a frame rate, but NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I used DVD shrink to make the backup copy of The 300; I don't know if the program will work on an original, copy protected DVD. I can definitely vouche for the BB Vid program. The quality is astouding. Now, on my 1 gig micro memory card, I have a 2 hr. movie, close to 100 mp3's, a bunch of pictures. I'm loving my Pearl more each day.

And thanks to all the posters here on this site. All you contributors rock, and I hope I can do the same, as I learn more about this amazing little device. Take THAT, iPhone users!

If you're looking for the BB Vid Converter program, go to CNet downloads. Since I'm not a Stack 2 member, I not able to supply a link, but go to CNet downloads and do a name search.
