    If you are talking about the built in one it uses your text messages. adds up fast. people like JT because it uses data

    As Kayos said, it really depends on how many instant messages you use. JiveTalk is nice since you can use AIM, ICQ, MSN, Jabber' etc.

    Also, since it uses data, a conversation where each person replies 10 times won't use 20 text messages.

    i see, thanks

    i only want to use data too, so i think i'll stick with jive

    however, are there cheaper IM programs? (because i only use AIM)

    or is jivetalk is the best prog out there (i want it so that if i somehow travel into a place where i get zero signal and then back to a place where i have full RF i can still get all my IM's)

    jivetalk is the best out there and is worth the money.
    otherwise, you could try ramble, which is free
