Smile T-Mobile Germany locks network servces

I habe purchased in Germany an unlocked Pearl with T-Mobile branding. One month attempts to get active the blackberry services from an other provider didn't lead to any result. I phoned the T-Mobile and got an explanation that T-Mobile branded Pearls get an EMEI and PIN related network blockage allowing them to operate on T-Mobile network only. Does anybody know how to open such a lock?

If the phone is unlocked I would think that there would be no problem using it if they had the IMEI number.

I understood that T-Mobile Germany uses two locks for Pearl. One for SIM card and the other for network related to EMEI and PIN. It means that SIM unlock does not open the blackberry network services (email, browsers etc.). I have got the blackberry services for my SIM card from another provider but it does not work on the Pearl with T-Mobile Germany branding even if I can freely use the telephone. Does anybody know the solution?

Well, I think I will have the same problem. Unfortunately I was not able to use my Blackberry 8800 yet, because I'm still bound to my VPA Compact IV (Vodafone).

So was there no chance to receive any E-Mails? :-/

I talked to an employee of T-Mobile and he told me that there's no chance to get the Blackberry unlocked by the help of T-Mobile itself, just because T-Mobile subsidizes Blackberry and so on....

But I don't know if it's really true..

    Cheers

Not sure I'm addressing your issue, but here is something I experienced.

I had a T-mobile unlocked Pearl using BES
I had a Palm unlocked Treo 680 using Goodlink on Cingular
I wanted to "swap" them -- use Cingular on my Pearl and T-mobile on my Treo
I had to have each provider newly "provision" me for the specific service (i.e BES or Goodlink)
This appears to mean they can block use of either BES or Goodlink or allow use of either. Thus, you may have to speciifcally provision and pay for BES service. Hope this helps

Is it the Enterprise or Prosumer Version? I thought that this lock which concerns you is limited to the Prosumer Version.
